Herbal Bathing By Kami McBride

Herbal bathing is a great way to relax, heal and support healthy
skin function. The skin is the largest organ in the body. It
contributes to many important functions such as secretion,
absorption, excretion, temperature regulation, immune function, and
sensory reception. The skin has receptor sites that transfer
information through the nervous system to the spinal cord and brain.
It not only provides a boundary between us and the rest of the
world, but because of its millions of receptor sites, is a major
player in how we perceive, experience, and interact with the world.

The skin is also a major organ of elimination just like our lungs,
kidneys and colon. It plays a key role in helping our body to
eliminate toxins, heavy metals, and carcinogenic substances. Herbs
have many healing benefits for the skin and there are many simple
herbal bathing treatments that can help our skin do its job of
keeping us healthy.

GrannyMoon’s Morning Feast

Herbal Healing Bath Mixture

To speed the healing process,

take 2 parts Lavender

2 parts Rose

1 part peppermint

1 part cinnamon

to help with colds and flu

add 2 parts Eucalyptus to the mix

If you are sensitive to any of the above ingredients, try

4 cups ground coffee per bath, this works well for people recovering from illness

Cerannah added:

Be really careful with the cinnamon!!! It can really easily irritate skin!

Even if you don’t have “sensitive” skin you have a good chance reacting

with irritation to the cinnamon. At least I know I react to it…And mint

can make certain sensitive “areas” tingle…and not necessarily a good

tingle either!

Hint – to keep the herbs from sticking to your skin and clogging your tub,

make a pouch with a old washcloth and tie it shut with string or a rubber

band. Then add very hot water and let it steep for 10 minutes. Then add the

rest of your bath water.
